In December of 2020, Alberta brought in this program to replace most impaired driving charges. Although this no longer gives you a criminal record, the repercussions of being issued one of these is severe. You receive a 90 day license suspension, followed by 12 months with a blowbox installed. You also get a $1200 fine and your vehicle gets impounded for 30 days. The financial costs are substantial, and it's likely that based on your employment that you will also lose your job.
What most people don't understand is that you only have 7 days from when you were issued the IRS to then file your appeal. And, the Alberta Government has limited what the reasons can be to file an appeal. Give us a call immediately to discuss what happened and then we can proceed from there. As always, the conversations are always free with us!
